I was asked by the publisher for a Victorian-style church steeple set against a blood red sky for a frontis painting for the lettered edition of Tim Lebbon's "Until She Sleeps". I turned from the email on my screen, looked out my window, and there was the Trinity Lutheran Church across the street. Bingo. I just added the blood red sky.

Watercolor; 14 x 20"My daughter, her husband, my son and I have made a few trips to upstate New York to the eastern shore of Lake Ontario to do family history research on my mother's side. We've tramped through cemeteries in Ellisburg, Adams, and Sandy Creek, among others, tracking down the final resting places of eighteenth and nineteenth century ancestors named Weed, Chamberlain and Boomer. I discovered this small child's grave slowly being folded into the trunk of the tree in the cemetery in Sandy Creek.
