"Near The Apple Barn'"
February 24, 1974
Pencil; 14 x 10"I was on a sketching expedition one Winter day in New Paltz with my friend Paula Metallo, who shared my interest in Andrew Wyeth's work, and we found these apple crates in a field near a barn that had old, faded advertisements for apples painted on its sides. This eventually became a watercolor that sold in a one-man exhibition I had on Long Island that summer.
