Tails-2

I am sort of creeping along with this one, rather than rushing like I did with the last painting. At first the plan was to paint the aluminum siding in a green color, but more and more I am liking this monochrome look. We'll see.

Tails

I started the sky as a strong blue above white puffy "NC Wyeth"-type clouds, but messed up trying to feather the edges - used a hard brush that had not been cleaned and still had some red pigment in it. Before anything could dry I soaked a new sea sponge, then wrung it out and started scrubbing, constantly cleaning the sponge in clean water. What I ended up with is what you see, not my original idea, but very interesting anyway. This is one reason why I paint on Arches 140 lb hot-pressed stock: it is AMAZING paper and can take this kind of abuse.

Ridge-tails

Here is the subject of the next roofscape watercolor. Imagine that tree is gone, and the air conditioner as well. This one will test my 3-point perspective skills for sure!

Eyebrows

Spent most of today painting bricks. This is largely done, though there is still a bit of detail work to be done on the roof and the white barge boards, both of which look too "new". Still, I signed and dated it to be the last thing I complete for 2012.
