I hit a definite spurt after my eye surgery. Suddenly I could see color where I apparently wasn't before, not as vivid, anyway.

And here it is about 90% done. I still need to put some horizonatal purple clouds in the foreground, and darken the house a bit more. Hopefully the dark house against the rich sunset clouds, with the light on in that room window, will do the trick.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.keithminnion.com/home/2012/1/25/upcoming-work.html"><rss:title>Upcoming Work</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.keithminnion.com/home/2012/1/25/upcoming-work.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

After my cataract surgery in early February (my fourth eye surgery in two years, and hopefully my last), I plan on beginning the research end of the next batch of illustrations for the third book in Brett McBean's Jungle trilogy - Suburban Jungle, for Tasmaniac Publications, coming in 2013. I have already read an early draft and have a list of ideas for the endpapers, about eight interiors (final tally will be four) and the remarque for the lettered edition. Still to think about are the signature page spot illustrations.

I've been approached to do two other projects with other publishers but nothing concrete yet on those. I hope to get back into a full swing with full eyesight in both eyes again as 2012 progresses. With retirement from my day job on the horizon in December, the extra cash will be handy.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.keithminnion.com/home/2012/1/16/conceptual-art.html"><rss:title>Conceptual Art</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.keithminnion.com/home/2012/1/16/conceptual-art.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

I ran this on Facebook to guage the reaction of the conceptual art folks out there, as this would have fit right in for a piece presented to my "foundation" classes at the Hartford Art School in 1972/73. It wouldn't have faired well during critique, but this is a fair example of the crap that was being foisted as real art back then.

What I got back was: how did I join the corners of the frame? Sigh.

In all of them, Dexter begins each chapter with a pithy quote which is invariably echoed in the action of the chapter it heads.
