12/22/04 - This is the fifth stage of the cover painting for "The Wicked" by J. Newman
More underpainting, more texture and depth to the background using brush and
sponge. The sponges I use are sea-sponges about the size of a golf ball, cut and
shaped to give soft round areas and sharp angular areas which help manipulate
the paint. The brushes I've used so far are sablette rounds, numbers 10 and 6. I
added Naples Yellow to the palette, using it with the Hansa Yellow cut with
white to recapture the edges of the statue. I also mixed some Naptha Red with
the Windsor Violet for a wash to give the skin a warmer feel than the hair.
