The modeling of the face was basically an exercise in pulling back shadows with
warm dark washes and pulling out highlights with a scumble of a cool, lighter
color. The hair was done using various thicknesses of technical ink pens and
very small sable brushes. In this image, there is still more work to be done
defining the really dark recesses of the beard, and finishing the skin texture
and final color of the shoulders.
